Model Customs Collectorate, Gwadar and Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Gwadar undertook destruction of contrabands and narcotics in the presence of representatives of various anti-smuggling agencies, district administration and other relevant departments and bodies.

The destruction took place at Pir Kaas Road, Palari Goth, Hub Chowki, Lasbella, Balochistan.

The exercise of destruction has been performed as a manifestation of the commitment on behalf of Pakistan Customs to secure the coastal areas of Balochistan against smuggling mafias. The goods had been confiscated over the period of last two years and all the legal procedure were satisfied before conducting destruction.

Massive quantities of narcotics and contraband goods including betel nut, 434,000 kg; Liquor, more than 5,000 bottles and 8,197 cans of beer; Gutka/Naswaar, 249,651 packets; Monosodium glutamate (China Salt), 34,000 kg; and Charas, 90 kg have been destroyed. The destroyed goods had a value of over Rs 741 million in international market.

Narcotics, betel nut and Gutka/Naswaar were set ablaze and the bottles of liquor were crushed under heavy machinery.

Collector MCC, Gwadar, Tahir Qureshi. Representatives of Frontier Corps, Pakistan Coast Guard, PCSIR, Balochistan Police, District Administration Hub and officers and staff of Pakistan Customs attended the ceremony. Colonel Jamshed representing Frontier Corps addressed the participants followed by the address by the chief guest.
