The Met Office on Thursday said that the mild heat wave will continue in the metropolis with maximum temperature up to 40 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours.
It said that the city may witness hot and warm weather on Friday with humidity in the morning hours up to 75 percent and in the evening up to 85 percent. Temperature likely to range between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius during the day. Wind direction will generally be from the West to Southwest.
In the next 24 hours, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain wind-thunderstorm are likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and upper Punjab during evening/night time.
In the past 24 hours, weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain occurred in few districts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab and Kashmir.
Noorpur Thal received maximum 7 mm of rainfall, Rawalakot 2 mm, Chakwal, Khanewal, Malamjabba, and Garhidupatta 1 mm, each. The highest temperature was recorded in Padidan and Shaheed Benazirabad 46 degrees Celsius, each, Sibbi and Mohenjodaro 45, each.
"A shallow a westerly wave is likely to approach upper parts of the country on Friday," the Met said.
