The advent of Covid-19 has exposed the shortcomings of our health system. All the Govts during their tenure ignored the development of health care facilities in line with the increasing population. A few hospitals were established in far-flung areas, that too, with inadequate medical facilities. Most of the well developed Govt. hospitals are found in big cities. But these also lack latest diagnose & treatment equipment.
The change in climate has accentuated the need of upgrading the facilities capable of accommodating the sufferers of new diseases. Recent examples could be Swine Flue, Dengue Fever, and Novel Corona Virus disease. Almost all these diseases are contagious, rendering all big & small economies helpless.
The philanthropists in the Private Sector realized the little attention of the Govt. on health & education on account of small budget allocations for these two sectors crucial for the Human Resource Development and raising social graph of general public. Ultimately some philanthropists took the initiative.
Highlighted the need of Corporate Social Responsibility and began to establish hospitals by creating trusts. Guard Group embarked upon this noble cause in 1975 by establishing a small hospital at Wahdat Road, Lahore in the vicinity of Guard Filter Factory.
Late Muhammad Shafi Malik, Founder Chairman of Hospital Trust took personal interest and developed this small hospital to a full fledge hospital and established the second one at Raiwind Road, Lahore, close to Guard Rice Mill. The hospitals house latest diagnose & treatment facilities.
