The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) not to take coercive measures against Neo TV for two weeks.
A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Yahya Afridi, heard the Neo TV appeal against the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judgement and PEMRA decision to suspend Neo TV's license.
After hearing the appellant counsel, the bench directed that no coercive measures shall be taken by the PEMRA against Neo TV for a period of 15 days to enable Neo TV to inter alia challenge the vires of the Regulations of 2012 and raise other grounds and PEMRA's action of closure of Neo TV in accordance with the law.
