The Karachi Port handled 100,551 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,326 tonnes of import cargo and 26,225 tonnes of export cargo including 5,833 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 74,326 tonnes comprised of 50,715 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,565 tonnes of general cargo; 4,795 tonnes of bulk cargo and 11,251 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 26,225 tonnes comprised of 26,125 tonnes of containerised cargo; 100 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,833 containers comprising of 3,842 containers of import and 1,991 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,014 of 20's and 1,294 of 40's loaded while 26 of 20's and 107 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 718 of 20's and 298 of 40's loaded containers while 79 of 20's and 299 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Xin Shanghai, Kota Kaya, Bulk Newport and Kong Que Zuo carrying containers, DAP and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 122,914 tonnes comprising of 97,599 tonnes of import cargo and 25,315 tonnes of export cargo including 2,118 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 97,599 tonnes includes 6,035 tonnes of coal; 59,292 tonnes of LNG; 10,014 tonnes of palm oil; 660 tonnes of soyabean; 359 tonnes of palm kernel; 1,403 tonnes of LPG and 19,836 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,315 tonnes includes 4,909 tonnes of rice and 20,406 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,118 containers comprising of 1,044 containers import and 1,074 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely MSC Sabrina and Star Topaz carrying containers and soyabean respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, rice, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG. Palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Tisntao Express, Great Comfort, BBC Forever, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, Celia, Gas Amazon, Epic Manhattan, Tomson Gas, Golar Maria and Hoegh Gallant carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LPG and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. MOL Globe, Tisntao Express, Ocean Jore, Glory Navigator, Golar Maria and Hafnia Phoenix carrying containers, coal, soyabean, LNG and mogas respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely MOL Globe, Ocean Jore and Hafnia Phoenix carrying containers, coal and mogas respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while three more ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Athenian and Thorsky carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
