The Karachi Port handled 111,936 tonnes of cargo comprising 77,621 tonnes of import cargo and 34,315 tonnes of export cargo including 5,602 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 77,621 tonnes comprised of 28,183 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,497 tonnes of general cargo; 20,481 tonnes of bulk cargo and 25,460 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 34,315 tonnes comprised of 34,119 tonnes of containerised cargo; 196 tonnes of general cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,602 containers comprising of 1,687 containers of import and 3,915 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 983 of 20's and 260 of 40's loaded while 110 of 20's and 37 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 809 of 20's and 452 of 40's loaded containers while 638 of 20's and 782 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Coral Star, Edison and Magnolia carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are two ships namely Coral Star and Magnnolia carrying containers and general cargo respectively expected to sail on Thursday while two more ships namely MSC Sabrina and Cosco Rotterdam carrying containers are expected to sail on Friday.

There are four vessels viz. MOL Globe, Ubena, Fortitude and Ocean Peace-8 carrying containers, chemical and steel scrap respectively due to arrive on Thursday while six more vessels viz. Northern Discovery, MT Lahore, Ginga Caracal, Oriental Lotus, Ru Yi Song and Mermaid Star carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and mill scale respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 147,788 tonnes comprising of 139,903 tonnes of import cargo and 7,885 tonnes of export cargo including 1,690 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 139,903 tonnes includes 43,105 tonnes of coal; 17,917 tonnes of LNG; 8,515 tonnes of palm oil; 26,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 17,000 tonnes of soyabean; 2,607 tonnes of palm kernel; 539 tonnes of LPG and 20,330 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 7,885 tonnes includes 7,885 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,690 containers comprising of 1,275 containers import and 415 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely White Purl carrying LpG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely Gant Muse, Ocean Jore and Golar Maria carrying coal and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, Palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. Great Comfort, BBC Forever, Daphne, Seneca, Panorea, Theka Schulte, Celia, Gas Amazon, Epic Manhattan, Tomson Gas, Hoegh Gallant and Mega-1 carrying coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. Great Comfort, Celia and Al-Deebal carrying coal, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were two ships namely APL Savannah and Al-Deebal carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday while two more ships namely Safmarine Nyassa and Diyala carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
