As many as 1,368 profiteers were fined Rs6.4 million in Karachi from 1st to 19th of Ramazan, the Sindh High Court (SHC) was told here on Friday. According to a report of the commissioner of Karachi submitted in the court, profiteers were fined in all districts of Karachi division.
The district-wise data showed that profiteers were fined Rs2.1 million in district south and Rs0.9 million in district east.
The commissioner told the court that Rs0.4 million fine was slapped on 260 profiteers in district west and Rs1.3 million in district central, in Korangi district Rs1.4 million and Rs0.1 million in district Malir.
The SHC ordered the commissioner of Karachi to continue his operation against profiteers and hoarders in the city.
