The Met Office on Friday forecast another spell of the heatwave to hit the metropolis from next Sunday through May 22 with up to 42 degrees Celsius of temperature.
The Heat Wave Early Warning Centre of the Met Office said a moderate heatwave spell is likely to strike Karachi and its outskirts from May 17 until May 22. The daytime maximum temperature is expected to range between 40 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius.
The surface wind flow will generally be from Northwest-West till afternoon turning to Southwest in the evening hours over the period. Citizens are advised to remain careful, take precautionary steps to avoid sun heat, stay in shades especially during peak temperature hours from 11 am to 4 pm.
In the next 24 hours: The city's daytime temperature is expected to remain between 36 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius. Humidity in the morning is likely to be up to 75 percent which may fall down to 55 percent by evening.
Elsewhere in the country: Mainly hot and dry weather is expected with a rain wind-thunderstorm expecting in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
In the past 24 hours: Rain wind-thunderstorm occurred in districts of Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad. The weather remained dry elsewhere in the country.
Islamabad received the maximum rainfall of 105 mm at Bokra, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad) 86 mm, Islamabad Zero Point 83 mm, Murree 78 mm, Chaklala 71 mm, Saidpur and Golra 51 mm, each, Muzaffarabad Airport 49 mm, Garhidupatta 48 mm, Kakul 42 mm, Rawalakot 40 mm, Kotli 38 mm, Islamabad Airport 36 mm, Muzaffarabad City 34 mm, Chakwal 33, Attock 29 mm, Balakot 29 mm, Cherat 26 mm, Malam Jabba 21 mm, Narowal 19 mm, Dir Lower and Saidu Sharif 18 mm, each, Dir Upper 17 mm, Tahktbai 16 mm, Mirkhani and Kalam 14 mm.
The highest was recorded temperature in Turbat 43 degrees Celsius, Mithi and Padidan 42, each.
