It is heartening to note that both federal and Sindh governments are on the same page in relation to the fight against coronavirus spread. According to media reports, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have warned the people that the government will have no option but to tighten lockdown again if they fail to act in a responsible and cautious manner in the wake of the Covid-19.
In Karachi, the city of teeming millions, things appear to be quite dangerous because not many people have been seen observing the SOPs. While markets are crowded by customers and shopkeepers, roads are full of motorists, motorcyclists and others. The government could face the paradox of reopening economy but a sharp spike in positive cases.
