Kuwait, Qatar to jail people for not wearing face masks

• Qatar said it would jail violators for three years, while Kuwait said it would jail for three months.

Qatar and Kuwait have said that they would start arresting people for not wearing a face mask during the coronavirus crisis.

In a statement, both countries warned that they would also fine the people who fail to wear the face mask. Qatar, where more than 32,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19, said it would fine as much as $55,00.

The country also said the maximum penalty would be three years, international media reported. Meanwhile, Kuwait said the maximum fine will be $16,200, and the violator could be jailed for three months.
