PM launches Ehsaas programme for the jobless

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan launched Ehsaas Emergency Cash programme on Monday. The scheme has been designed for those rendered jobless due to coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.
Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar briefed the prime minister. On the occasion, Imran Khan interacted with the affectees and listened to their grievances. He assured them that their issues will be resolved soon.
Over three billion rupees have so far been collected in the Corona Relief Fund. For every rupee donated to the fund, the PM has committed that government will contribute four rupees.
Ehsaas Emergency Cash program was launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan on April 1, 2020 for the poor and deserving families facing economic hardship in wake of the coronavirus crisis.
The financial assistance under the program is meant to help them buy ration so that they don’t go hungry. The program covers 12 million families while a sum of Rs12,000 per family is being provided by the government. The total budget for the programme is Rs144 billion.
Recently, the United States also contributed $5 million to the Ehsaas program to provide extra support to over 70,000 families so they can buy food and items of basic necessity.
