The Karachi Port handled 83,046 tonnes of cargo comprising 63,092 tonnes of import cargo and 19,954 tonnes of export cargo including 1,451 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 63,092 tonnes comprised of 8,623 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,685 tonnes of general cargo; 15,075 tonnes of bulk cargo and 37,709 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 19,954 tonnes comprised of 14,707 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,847 tonnes of general cargo and 400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 1,451 containers comprising of 518 containers of import and 933 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 242 of 20's and 98 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 40 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 382 of 20's and 188 of 40's loaded containers while 01 of 20's and 127 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Cosco Aden, Oriental Jasmine, Oriental Lotus, Ru Yi Song and Yong Sheng carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels carrying containers, oil tanker and fertilizer respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 209,705 tonnes comprising of 166,613 tonnes of import cargo and 43,092 tonnes of export cargo including 2,277 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 166,613 tonnes includes 35,800 tonnes of coal; 59,292 tonnes of LNG; 15,900 tonnes of palm oil; 43,500 tonnes of diesel oil; 10,000 tonnes of soyabean; 1,950 tonnes of LPG and 171 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 43,092 tonnes includes 43,092 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,277 containers comprising of 09 containers import and 2,268 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely Telemann carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while four more ships namely Safmarine Nyassa, Gas Arma, Junior-G and Mega-1 carrying containers, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen vessels viz. Northern Jubilee, APL Savannah, BBC Forever, Daphne, Seneca, Panorea, Thekla Schulte, Gas Amazon, Glory Harvest, Tomson Gas, Hoegn Gallanat, Eagle, Helene Maersk and Maersk Tee Sports carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG floating craft and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. Northern Jubilee, APL Savannah, Tomson Gas and Maersk Tee Sports carrying containers, LPG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were two ships namely Maersk Kinloss and MSC Asya carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
