The city is expected to witness a 'very' hot and humid weather with maximum temperature up to 42 degrees Celsius, as the Met Office on Monday forecast heat wave for the next 2 days.

It said that the next two days namely May 19 and 20, 2020 may experience heat wave conditions with maximum temperatures ranging between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.

"[The] latest Meteorological data analysis indicated that no significant change in surface wind flow over Karachi so far, therefore, no heat wave condition for today [Monday, May 18]," it said.

In the next two days, humidity is expected to remain up to 75 percent in the morning hours but may reduce to 40 percent in the evening hours. Overall very hot and humid weather has been forecast for Karachi over the next 48 hours. In the next 24 hours, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while dry in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In the past 24 hours, weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, 10 mm of rain fell in Mirkhani, Muzaffarabad 5 mm, Chakwal, Joharabad 3 mm, Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Peshawar and Gujrat 1 mm, each.

The highest temperature was recorded in Sibbi and Turbat 45 degrees Celsius, each, Shaheed Banazirabad 44 and Dadu 43.
