The Karachi Port handled 70,950 tonnes of cargo comprising 47,946 tonnes of import cargo and 23,004 tonnes of export cargo including 2,641 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 47,946 tonnes comprised of 15,056 tonnes of containerised cargo; 333 tonnes of bulk cargo; 6,090 tonnes of canola; 9,800 tonnes of rock phosphate; 1,190 tonnes of steel scrap; 4,570 tonnes of chemical and 10,907 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 23,004 tonnes comprised of 18,698 tonnes of containerised cargo; 406 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,450 tonnes of mill scale and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,641 containers comprising of 1,213 containers of import and 1,428 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 194 of 20's and 507 of 40's loaded while 05 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 562 of 20's and 226 of 40's loaded containers while 58 of 20's and 178 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Ubena, Diyala, MT Karachi and Huarong-5 carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Wan Hai-613, CSAV Tyndall, Torm Astrid, Oreo, Yan Dun Jiao-1 and Mermaid Star carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer, clinkers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There are three ships namely CSAV Tyndall, Bow Triumph and Ocean Peace-8 carrying containers, chemical and steel scrap respectively expected to sail on Tuesday.

There is one vessel viz. Hong Kong Express carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while three more vessels viz. MSC Atlantic, CMA CGM Ivanhoe and Marianne Danica carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 109,752 tonnes comprising of 93,222 tonnes of import cargo and 16,530 tonnes of export cargo including 2,946 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 93,222 tonnes includes 27,629 tonnes of coal; 3,308 tonnes of palm oil; 12,031 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,010 tonnes of soyabean; 2,800 tonnes of LPG and 39,444 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 16,530 tonnes includes 16,530 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,946 containers comprising of 2,076 containers import and 870 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely Glory Navigator, Al-Deebal and Mega-1 carrying soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while four more ships namely Northern Jubilee, APL Savannah, Nicholas and Tomson Gas carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as twelve vessels viz. MSC Asya, BBC Forever, Daphne, Seneca, Panorea, Ocean Forf, Thekla Schulte, Eagle, Gas Amazon, Glory Harvest, Hoegn Gallanat and Helene Maersk carrying containers, coal, soyabean, cement, chemical, floating craft, LPG, LNG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Maersk Kinloss, MSC Atlantic, MSC Asya, Ocean Jorf, Seneca, Eagle and Thekla Schulte carrying containers, cement, floating craft, soyabean and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely Maersk Kinloss and MSC Atlantic carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Gateway carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
