Actor Ayeza Khan swiftly refuted reports she and husband Danish Taimoor were allegedly onboard the doomed PIA flight PK-8303, which crashed in Karachi's Jinnah Garden area.

Rumours of her and Taimoor's death began to circulate on social media soon after the crash, claiming the couple had died in the incident.

"Alhumdulillah we are in our house! Safe, please stop spreading the fake news and pray for the people and their families," wrote the Meray Paas Tum Ho star in an initial, now-deleted Instagram post within minutes of the false reports. "May Allah guide those who turn everything into a joke."

In a subsequent post, she called for an end to publishing unverified and "fake" news and for sympathy for victims of the crash and their families.

The original tweet claiming Khan and Taimoor's death has since been deleted.

Taimoor also rubbished the rumours on his Instagram, saying, "We are safe and at our home."

The plane was scheduled to land at Jinnah International Airport when it developed a technical fault. PK-8303 was enroute from Lahore to Karachi. There were 99 passengers and eight crew members on board the aircraft, according to Civil Aviation Authority.
