Shehbaz Sharif tests negative for coronavirus
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has tested negative for the coronavirus.
Shehbaz Sharif took the Covid-19 test after PML-N's deputy secretary-general Attaulah Tarar was tested positive for the virus. Tarar is considered to be one of the close aides of Shehbaz Sharif.
Attaullah Tarar had requested all those people who had interacted with him in the last few days to get their tests done and take other precautionary measures. PML-N leader Rana Mashhood said that Shehbaz Sharif, along with other senior party leaders, had gotten tested which was declared negative.
On the other hand, health professionals have warned surge in Covid-19 cases after the government's decision to relax the lockdown.
"The incubation period of the virus is between five and seven days so we have been expecting that the number of daily cases will increase as the interaction between people has increased," senior health professional Dr Aamir Nazir said.
He advised the masses to take precautionary measures while interacting with relatives and friends on the occasion of Eid. Dr. Aamir also expressed concern over threats to life of doctors, nurses and paramedics due to the coronavirus situation in the country and demanded of the government to take appropriate steps for the protection of healthcare workers.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid in a briefing said, "We are already facing a dangerous corona pandemic yet we are making sure that all-out efforts are made to control epidemics and infectious diseases. On our part, the government is utilizing all resources. However, I request all the people to follow preventive guidelines. I assure you that the government will not leave you alone."
