The number of coronavirus cases surpassed 60,000 on Wednesday after new cases were reported from various parts of the country.
According to official figures, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country rose to 60,074 after new infections were confirmed in the country.
According to province-wise break up, Punjab reported 464 more Covid-19 cases and 10 new deaths.
With the new cases, Punjab's tally has risen to 21,118, while the total death toll has risen to 362. Further, 6,185 patients have recovered from the disease, while 73 are in critical condition.
In the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 224 new cases were confirmed - 45 from Torkham, 10 from international flights center - taking the tally to 8,483.
Nine patients lost their lives of which seven were in Peshawar, one each from Swat and Kohat, taking the total number of deaths to 425.
Fifty four patients were recovered, taking tally to 2,632, while the number of active cases is 5,426.
Adviser to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ajmal Wazir announced that shops - except for medical and essential item shops - in the province will close at 5pm from Wednesday onwards.
The number of cases from Balochistan is 3,536, 1,879 in Islamabad, 638 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 214 from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
"The government measures are being done to protect the people from the coronavirus," said Wazir, adding barber shops would only remain open from Friday till Sunday.
The death toll from the novel coronavirus in Sindh rose to 1,231 after new deaths were reported.
Six new deaths were reported in the province in the last 24 hours to take the provincial tally to 380, while one each was reported from Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Islamabad.
According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, 699 new cases were reported in the province in the last 24 hours to take the provincial tally to 24,206.
He said there were 14,556 patients under treatment in the province at the moment.
The Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Murtaza Wahab, in a tweet, said that so far, 882 children under age of 10 had tested Covid-19 positive in Sindh.
"This sharp increase in number shows how careless we have been and have unfortunately brought this virus home. It is still not too late to be careful. Can't we defer shopping and socializing," he tweeted.
