Police put on high-alert due to 'expected' terrorist strike
Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Faisal Shahzad directed the filed officers on Friday to remain extra vigilant due to prevailing security challenges and an "expected" terrorist strike in the provincial capital.
The SSP issued these directions to the field officers during his visits to various police pickets erected at the entry and exit points of the city on Friday. "No person or a vehicle should be entered in the city without proper checking," he directed.
The senior police officer also asserted that the devised SOPs of the Punjab government regarding prevention of coronavirus must be followed and implemented in letter and spirit. "People at the pickets must be gently treated while a strict departmental action would be taken against those officials who founding misusing their powers," he warned.
Meanwhile, DIG Rai Babar Saeed on Friday suspended from service a police constable for taking bribe from cart vendors in Sabzi Mandi (fruit and vegetable market). The constable, identified as Muhammad Afzal, was posted at Sabzi Mandi police post and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him under the supervision of SSP Faisal, the DIG added.
