Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) central leader and former deputy mayor of Karachi Dr Arshad Abdullah Vohra on Friday slammed the federal and provincial governments, saying that the people of Karachi are longing for a drop of water.
Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club he said Government measures are nothing but rhetoric. In practice, there is no such thing as an implementation at all. Moreover, the federal government is just deceiving Karachiites through hollow promise and mere blabber instead of taking practical measures.
PSP will not remain silent on these issues. The abuse to which Karachi has been subjected to is now unbearable. The water issue must be resolved immediately. The K-IV project needs to be completed as soon as possible and Karachi should be provided its due share of water. If done with good faith and clear intention, the project can be completed within this tenure.
The cost of K-IV has increased more than ten folds, Karachi is not even receiving the allotted 1200 MGD of water. In some areas there is no water for weeks. He asked the government to show the media as how many RO plants are currently operative in Karachi.
He said that looking at the style of practicing politics and discrimination by the governments, it seems that Karachi is being destroyed intentionally and purposely, Chief Justice of Pakistan should take immediate notice of the non-completion, time barred and faulty completion of government projects in Karachi.
Way too many experiments have been conducted at the cost of the people of Karachi. There are 14 PTI members of the National Assembly, 26 MPAs from this city. Not a single one has talked about the water issue of Karachi in Parliament. Instead of talking about any issues, the self acclaimed representatives of the city also gave importance only to their ministries.
He warned that domicile corruption should be stopped all over the country including Karachi, accountability is necessary in this regard. PSP will not allow any rightful person to be robbed of his or her legitimate rights. Sindhis have the status of Ansaar for us, we are raising our voice against their manipulation and deprivation of their rights just like for anyone else.
Expressing deep sorrow and pain over the PIA plane crash and consequent loss of precious lives in Karachi, PSP leader said that ironically, the federal and the Sindh government have started politics on this tragic accident too. Grieving families still do not know who is responsible and who to contact. It was the government's job to carry out rescue work.
The fate of Green Line is quite similar to that of Peshawar BRT. While there are 10 buses on the roads of Karachi which are being run by contractors, their petrol and maintenance is also being done with the money of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. There is no one to ask questions as to who is benefiting from it.
