'Punjab to introduce new wheat procurement policy'
The Punjab Senior Minister has said that next year the Punjab government will introduce a new wheat procurement policy under which the volume and the method of wheat procurement will be changed.
"All the stakeholders will be taken into confidence before making the changes in the wheat policy," he said while presiding over a meeting which was held here on Saturday to review the situation of wheat and flour in Punjab and other important issues of government departments.
Punjab Law Minister Raja Muhammad Basharat, Punjab Industry Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal and Punjab Agriculture Minister Malik Noman Langarial attended the meeting.
The senior minister said that the wheat procurement this year was a joint achievement of the concerned departments. "We have almost completed the procurement and the set target has almost been achieved. This year, we have broken the record of last 10 years by making a record purchase of wheat," he added. He said that flour mills and seed companies can buy as much wheat as they want in Punjab.
