JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's rand extended losses against the dollar on Friday, falling as much as 1.7 percent as weaker-than-expected US jobs numbers hit global risk sentiment.
The rand hit a session low of 8.2850 to the greenback, its softest level in a week, and was down 1.53 percent at 8.27 by 1254 GMT compared with Thursday's close.
