MARIA SAEEDKARACHI: Pop Star Katy Perry was not ready to have kids, and this has been cited as the primary reason behind her split from British comedian Russell Brand. The 27-year-old talked about her marriage to Brand in her new documentary “Katy Perry: Part of Me”.
In her film, the star confirmed the question of children had a negative toll on her marriage. In a scene backstage, she receives a text from Brand of a picture from McDonald’s, with the actor/comedian joking they should name their son “Ronald.”
Perry then expresses that she doesn’t want to have children just yet. "A baby can't have a baby and I'm still a baby," she says.
Moreover, a source close to Brand, 37, confirmed to US Weekly that children were a sore spot for the couple, who called it quits last December, after just 14 months of marriage.
"Russell feels there's no point in being married if you don't have kids," the source was quoted as saying. These days, the Rock of Ages Actor "is ready to move on," the source added.
The "Firework" singer has recently been linked to Florence and the Machine Guitarist Robert Ackroyd. But she denied their relationship is "anything serious."
