JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's rand fell more than 1.5 percent to a near two-week low against the dollar on Thursday as the greenback staged a broad-based rally on sharply lower unemployment benefit claims data for the world's biggest economy.
The rand hit a session low of 8.3701/dollar, its softest since June 29, and was trading at 8.3688 by 1417 GMT, down 1.53 percent on the day.
