I can single-handedly battle for Pakistan: Nazir

KARACHI: Batsman Imran Nazir, who is among the Pakistan’s 30 short-listed players for T20
World Cup, is determined to make a comeback.

Nazir believes that he has the ability to win
games for his country single-handedly.

The batsman last represented Pakistan in the T20 series against England in 2010, before
being cut by the Selection Committee.

Nazir has been performing brilliantly in the T20 format in domestic competitions; however, he has also been labelled a ‘careless player’ on the field.

The batsman from the “Sialkot Stallions” has been included in Pakistan’s preliminary squad of 30 for the upcoming ICC competition to be held in Sri Lanka later this year.

Some former cricketers have been advising the Selection Committee to give him another chance at the highest level of the game, because Nazir, they feel, is the most naturally gifted
batsman in the country.

Speaking to the media, the right-handed batsman admitted that he has failed miserably in
justifying his talent over the years, but claimed he has now matured as a cricketer and will
not disappoint his country, if given another chance.

"I feel that now is my time to be playing international cricket as I think that I am a far
better batsman these days, a more complete batsman, a batsman who has the ability to
single-handedly win a match for Pakistan," he said.

Nazir impressed everyone in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) earlier this year and
promises to do the same in the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL), scheduled to begin next
month.

He hopes to be contracted by more franchises around the world, as he looks to improve
Pakistan’s image on the international cricket platform.
