Johnny Depp Turns to Editing for Guthrie’s Last Novel

Johnny Depp has turned his hand to editing, in an effort to aid the release of one of Folk Singer Woody Guthrie’s last novels.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star teamed up with author Douglas Brinkley to revise the book in celebration of the centennial of the singer's birth, which will be celebrated on Saturday, 14th Ju1y.

The late musician's daughter Nora Guthrie stumbled upon her father's previously unpublished work, House of Earth, last autumn.

The novel by Guthrie, will be scheduled for release next spring, 46 years after Guthrie’s death, with help from star Depp.

Depp and Brinkley revealed their plans in a new essay for the New York Times Book Review. House of Earth is Guthrie’s only "fully realised" novel. The book includes graphic sex, including a scorching lovemaking scene on a hay bale.

This isn't the first time the actor has worked with Brinkley. The two co-wrote the Grammy Award-nominated liner notes for the soundtrack to Gonzo, a documentary about their late Journalist friend Hunter S. Thompson.
