LAHORE: Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar has said Almighty Allah has blessed Pakistan with numerous resources and there are also many suitable sites for dams.
Talking to journalist after attending an international workshop on "Floods in Pakistan 2010" organized by the Pakistan Engineering Congress here on Saturday, he said that work was being done on many sites
including Bhasha Dam.
To a question, he said that work would be carried out on those projects on which we had consensus while work on other would be done after that.
To another question, he said that 2,000 mega watts had been added but the power demand was increasing.
He said that many projects were in completion phase.
He said that good amount of water was available due to rains and new projects would help in resolving electricity shortage.
To a query, he said that he could not give any date on which loadshedding problem would be resolved adding that shortage was there and the government was facing this challenge.
Regarding privatization, he said there was no consideration to privatize the Pakistan Post Office and added that the shares of OGDCL were being brought to the market while power bonds were also being issued.
