Zaka Ashraf dismisses reports on revenue-share formula
MADIHA AZHAR
KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf has firmly refuted reports that Pakistan wants to share the revenue in the recently announced Pakistan-India series.
On Wednesday, news surfaced that the PCB is determined to get a share from the revenues generated from the Indo-Pak limited-over matches.
He denied media reports that PCB wants the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to work out a revenue-sharing formula so that Pakistan may also benefit financially from the much-awaited Indo-Pak series.
Talking to a channel Ashraf said, “This is a fabricated story and we do not reflect any of this thinking. Our main focus has been the revival of cricketing relations between the two countries. We never have thought on revenue lines at all. Whoever has put this out has done so with an intent to sabotage this process.”
Cricket ties were suspended between Pakistan and India since 2008 after the terror attack in Mumbai. Since then, there have been no bilateral series between the two nations.
The series scheduled for December-January will be the first bilateral series in five years.
