Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna’s son Aarav lights Rajesh Khanna's pyre

KARACHI: The veteran actor Rajesh Khanna died at home in Mumbai on July 18. Nine-year-old Aarav lit his grandfather’s pyre along with his father, actor Akshay Kumar.

Vijay Zaveri, a close friend of Khanna said, "Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar (Rajesh Khanna's son-in-law) assisted him."

According to Indian media sources, the legendary actor wanted to have a grand funeral so his family members made sure to fulfil his last wish.

Sources added that Khanna left his house like a king on a flower decorated truck, his body was placed in a transparent casket and thousands of his fans were there to bid their last goodbye to India's first superstar.

Sources further said that the last rites of the Superstar were performed at the Vile Parle crematorium along with his estranged wife, actor Dimple Kapadia, daughter Rinke and her husband Samir Saran and Akshay.

His elder daughter, Twinkle who is pregnant with her second child was missing from the procession.
