KARACHI: Victoria Beckham has reportedly agreed to perform at the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony with the Spice Girls as long as it is their show together.
According to a media source, Victoria Beckham has only agreed to the reunion because of the provision of never reforming again.
The girl group, who were at their peak in the 90s, is apparently set to perform at the concert that will take place at the closing ceremony of London Olympics.
The five-member girl-band, made up of Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisolm, Victoria Beckham and Geri Halliwell, are expected to perform two songs at the unique event; one of them being their first single Wannabe.
“The girls were approached for the Games two years ago. It’s always been on the cards. But Victoria’s hectic work schedule, and the fact she and Mel B live in the US have always been problematic until now. Victoria is in London until the end of the Games and David’s exclusion from the football team means she has time to reunite with the Spice Girls. Talks are back in full swing and the balance of power rests with Mel C. Everyone is hopeful she will agree to perform,” reports a media source.
According to another media source Halliwell had stated: "After the Olympics I can't imagine even talking to her again, let alone being on a stage with her. Mel B. was right; she has lost the spirit of the band."
However regarding the reunion, a spokesperson for the Posh Spice has said, "The Spice Girls have received some amazing invitations to perform over the last few years, however personal family and professional reasons mean this has not been possible.”
“The Olympics is one more amazing opportunity but no announcement has been made or confirmation given, so this is nothing more than speculation at this time,” he added.
Additionally reports also claim that the delay has nothing to do with Beckham, It is Mel B’s demands that are creating hurdles.
“The delay has nothing to do with Victoria or Mel C - it's down to Mel B. She's told organizers that if they want her at the show they are going to have to fork out for a stack of unreasonable demands. She wants her friends and family flown from all over to see the gig and wants them to have backstage access. And her rider, which includes a demand for a personal stylist to be flown wherever she goes, is ridiculous,” an insider reported a media outlet.
