IOC clears Pakistan’s participation in London Olympics
MADIHA AZHAR
KARACHI: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Secretary Chaudhry Khalid Mehmood said that the Pakistan Olympic contingent has gotten the clearance for participation in the London Olympic Games.
POA President General (retd) Arif Hasan met with IOC officials and confirmed that the Pakistan Olympic team’s participation is not in danger and that POA and sports federation issues would not exclude the team from taking part in the biggest sporting event in the world.
Pakistan’s hockey team has already reached London while other teams will leave for London on July 25th.
The POA Secretary said that hockey is the only hope for Pakistan in the London Olympics while POA has made every possible effort to boost other sports as well.
“The POA is trying hard to hold maximum number of events to boost the sports across the country and I am hopeful Pakistan will be in position of winning medals in the next Olympics.”
