KARACHI: Bollywoood superstrar Salman Khan will be joining his fellow Indian superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in the “Bollywood Zone” of wax figures at Madame Tussauds museum in New York in August 2.
"Salman Khan is one of Bollywood's most enduring and recognizable stars. Bollywood exploded on the American pop culture scene several years ago and has become one of our most exciting entertainment categories," said the General Manager of Madame Tussauds New York, Bret Pidgeon.
Since his award winning performance in 1989 smash hit “Maine Pyar Kiya” Salman Khan has become one of the most notable faces of Bollywood. Khan also appeared as protagonist in “Bodyguard” which become the second-highest grossing Bollywood film of all time.
Khan's figure was launched in January 2008, after Khan outclassed nine other Indian stars including Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan, Lata Mangeshkar and Abhishek Bachchan in a public poll held in an August 2007 to choose the "Next Bollywood Star" that would get a wax likeness.
Khan personally chose a black top and denim jeans for his wax figure.
