SUKKUR: Chief Minister (CM), Qaim Ali Shah has said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always worked for the welfare of people.
Talking to media at Sukkur Airport on Sunday evening, he said "last year we provided 6,000 tractors to growers on subsidised rates and this year, 15,000 tractors would be provided.
The CM said that billions of rupees had been allocated for development projects in Sindh this year, out of which, Rs 160 billion would be received from the NFC Award as the province's share.
He said priority would be given to education and health sectors and budget under these heads was being increased year by year.
He said that PPP government provided jobs to 100,000 youths in Sindh, trained 160,000 youths in different trades, provided 70,000 acres of land to landless women, launched the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Income Support Programme providing Rs 350,000 as financial assistance to each unemployed individual.
To a question, he said the Thar coal project was a mega project which would not only benefit Sindh but also Pakistan.
He said that it was because of President Zardari that cabinet meetings were being conducted at each Sindh district headquarters to ascertain and resolve the public issues.
To another question, the CM said that those who join Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) are political orphans.
He said that the target killing incidents in Karachi have decreased. He also lauded police role towards maintaining law and order in the city.
