KARACHI: Barbara Walters launched a shocking attack on Queen Elizabeth II for having a “sour face” and dressing “like something out of the nineteenth century” during the Olympics opening ceremony.
The host of ABC’s ‘The View’ made withering comments while discussing London 2012 Olympics.
However, Walters acknowledged the Queen’s sense of humour for her involvement in James Bond sketch with Daniel Craig, she disapproved of her stern facial expression and choice of clothing.
“Let me tell you my thing with the Queen,” Walters said. “I did agree that the whole thing with Daniel Craig was funny… but let me tell you my problem with her... this is a woman who does not know how to smile.”
Her attack did not stop there and rather added, “Her Majesty did not change her facial expression while listening to children singing a rendition of 'God Save the Queen'.”
“Now, would it have killed this woman, this Queen, to go...', she said while pulling a fake smile. It’s such a sour face,” she ridiculed.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg also added to the mockery saying the “Queen's lack of smile may have been down to 'too tight a girdle' or 'shoes that didn't fit'.”
Goldberg continued saying that perhaps her anger was down to her unflattering outfit. She's standing there thinking ‘I would not be wearing this’... She's like "I'm gonna kick somebody's ass.”
Walters then continued with targeting the Queen’s fashion sense, “She is 86, but she dresses like something out of the 19th century,” she said.
“The pink dress with the pink plume, but then the black gloves and the black bag... what does the Queen keep in that bag anyway? And black shoes with the pink dress,” Walters added.
