MushtaqKARACHI: Former Pakistan leg-spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq Ahmed, may not have found any good turn with the officials of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). But the veteran bowler is in high spirits with another extension to his deal with the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The deal will extend his four-year old spell with the English team as their spin coach till 2014.

”The ECB has extended my contract till 2014 as their spin bowling consultant and I will rejoining the England team for the ICC T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka,” PTI quoted Mushtaq as saying.

In April, Mushtaq’s name appears among the foremost contenders to become the bowling coach of the Pakistan team ahead of the Sri Lanka tour. It was reported that the Mushtaq has not only applied for the post but also had two meetings with the PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf.

He wanted a three-year contract with the Pakistan Board with a condition of not dismissal him. However, PCB never got back to the spinner, giving him a clear signal of not accepting his conditions.

"The PCB might not want to recognize my qualifications and experience but the ECB has extended my contract," he said.

The former sussex bowler has taken 185 wickets in 52 Tests for his country, while also picking up 166 scalps in 144 One Day Internationals (ODIs) in a 13-year career across from 1990 till 2003.

Mushtaq is also one of the most successful cricket exports from Pakistan to play in the English county, taking 1407 wickets (25.67) in 309 First-Class matches, while plying his trade for Somerset, Surrey and Sussex.
