kim-jae-bumwebKARACHI: Kim Jae-bum of Republic of Korea has proved himself as world champion of judo by defending former Olympic Champion Ole Bischof of Germany.

According to media sources, Jae-bum caught Bischof twice early on with leg sweep throws, that made him to score two Yuko. Bischof was the former gold medallist of Olympics that held at Beijing.

Speaking to media Jae-bum said, “Four years ago I did my best even though I ended up winning the silver medal. From then on, for four years I did my best. As a result I was able to gain the gold.”

“If I was too nervous or if I had not trained hard and prepared enough, I might have lost to him. I could not use my left shoulder, but nevertheless I was able to make it to the gold medal. I think it was thanks to God,” he added.

Kim told the media that he had pray to God for the success in his pre-match round. He was worried because of injuries he is facing in shoulder, ribs and knees.

Canadian Antoine Valois-Fortier won a bronze medal and Ivan Nifontov, who got a defeat in the semi-final added to Russia's judo medal haul with bronze after he beat Takahiro Nakai of Japan.
