razaiwebKARACHI: Iranian wrestler Ghasem Gholamreza Rezaei succeed to win a gold medal of men’s 96kg Greco-Roman by beating Rustam Totrov of Russia.

According to media sources, Rezaei enchanted Iranians by winning gold with a 2-0, 1-0 wins. This is the third gold success of Iran’s national team after Sourian’s and Noroozi’s win gold in men’s 55kg Greco-Roman and men’s 60kg Greco-Roman respectively.

Before facing with Russian wrestler, Rezaei beat Yunior Estrada Falcon from Cuba, Artur Aleksanyan of Armenia and Turkish Cenk Ildem.

Rezaei formerly participated at Beijing, but failed to achieve success. Now he won his first Olympic final lifting his rival off the mat to win the first period before successfully defending a par terre in a tense second.

Russian Rustam Totrov claimed the Silver medal in this competition and Armenian Artur Aleksanyan won the Bronze medal.

Sources added that Iran has not won any gold in the Greco-Roman discipline before London 2012.
