LAHORE: Federal Minister for Oversease Pakistanis Dr Farooq Sattar has said it is the need of the hour to understand philosophy and ideology of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah regarding rights of minorities.
He was addressing a ceremony on the International Day of Minorities arranged by the Pakistan Minorities Movement here at Alhamra Hall on Saturday. Iftekhar Akbar Randhawa, Syed Shaheen Anwar Gillani, Dr Shehzad Shamsi and other office bearers of the MQM were also present.
He said minorities had a right to vote and all political leaders should issue party tickets to minorities in the upcoming elections.
The minister said MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain and his party was with minorities living in the country.
Later, Pakistan Minorities Movement chairman Gabrial and other leaders presented an award of "Embassoder of Minorities" to Dr Farooq Sattar for MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain.
After the ceremony, Dr Farooq Sattar and other office bearers of the MQM also attended an Iftar Dinner hosted by MQM tehsel Ferozwala here at Rana Town.
