KARACHI: Pakistan’s former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is ready to take on the job of coaching and help refine the new talent.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been looking for a bowling coach since March. The board has set up a three member committee to find a suitable candidate. However, the committee is unable to find the coach as yet.
Akhtar, 37, said, “I am ready to be the bowling coach for Pakistan. If the PCB contacts me then I will offer my services.”
The paceman, whose career was troubled by discipline and fitness issues, retired from cricket after the World Cup last year.
“It’s an honour to serve the country and it can be done by helping the upcoming bowlers. It will give me a chance to pay back what the country has given me,” Akhtar concluded.
