ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Friday that despite financial constraints, the government was making concerted efforts to provide relief to the people through effective economic measures.
He stressed upon the need of better coordination among the ministries to achieve sustainable economic growth through efficient utilization of available resources.
The Prime Minister while discussing next two year's roadmap of development and governance of the democratic government with the federal ministers and senior party representatives, who called on him here at the PM Secretariat, said the policy of reconciliation and political consultation would continue.
He said that the politics of reconciliation was the only way forward to bring the country out from its current problems.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government's determination to take along the leadership of all the political parties in deciding major issues of the country.
He said that inputs of parliamentarians regarding development projects in their respective areas would greatly help the government to evaluate the viability of the projects.
The Prime Minister directed that the ministries should focus their energies upon the cost effective and timely implementation of decisions. It was decided in the meeting that all the ministries would compile reports regarding development plans and projects to review the progress and accelerate the pace of implementation.
The ministers discussed with the Prime Minister the current political situation in the country. They also discussed the status of various development projects initiated by the government during last three years.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Mian Raza Rabbani, Minister for Law and Justice Dr. Zaheeruddin Babar Awan, Minister for Privatization Syed Naveed Qamar and former ministers Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Raja Parvez Ashraf.
