LAHORE: On the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, cheques worth Rs 4.5 million have been distributed among the heirs of nine persons who died due to flood in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Meanwhile, four persons who were drowned in the flood water in Rajanpur, of which, two persons have been identified.
This was stated by Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Mujahid Sherdil during a meeting with the officials of flood hit areas.
He said that 100 trucks carrying relief goods by the administrations of the province have been reached at the required places whereas more trucks would be sent on daily basis.
The DG said that 3000 tents, 10000 blankets, 15000 mineral water bottles, 4000 rice bags and 20000 bags of flour of 20 kg each have been distributed among flood affectees whereas further relief items will be distributed soon.
Sherdil said that the water is being drained out speedily through 92 dewatering pumps in various areas of DG Khan.
