ISTANBUL: Turkey's trade deficit narrowed to $5.86 billion in August from $8.43 billion a year earlier, data showed on Friday, sharply below a forecast deficit of $8.1 billion in a Reuters poll.
Exports rose 14.5 percent to $12.87 billion and imports decreased 4.8 percent to $18.736 billion in August, the Turkish Statistics Institute said.
The trade deficit in the first eight months of the year narrowed 21.2 percent to $56.6 billion.
