KARACHI: President of the National Labour Federation (NLF) Pakistan Rafique Ahmad Khan has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of 45 coal miners in a blast at Surang Mine in Quetta.

He said due to the negligence, 45 miners lost their lives and 15 others were missing adding rescue workers were facing great problems as they had no proper machinery to rescue the trapped miners.

Rafiq Khan said the government has been generating a lot of revenue through the mining sector, but no steps are being taken for safety of mine workers.

He said that in countries like Chile rescue work is done under the supervision of the president of the country with most modern machinery but in our country, the situation is just the opposite.

The NLF President urged authorities to probe the incident and demanded of the government to provide modern machinery to avoid further such incidents.
