tehzeeb-festival-indus-raagKARACHI: Tehzeeb Foundation has announced the official launch of “Indus Raag”, a prestigious music project in Pakistan’s history. The project, comprising 12 audio CDs and a booklet, features classical musicians from India, Pakistan, UK and Germany. 

 

The launch will take place during Tehzeeb Festival 2012, being held on October 6 and 7, 2012, at the Marriott, Karachi. Javed Jabbar, Raza Kazim, Uxi Mufti and Peer Aftab Hussain Shah Jeelani will speak on the occasion. 

 

The two-day event features performances by Ustad Naseeruddin Saami, Noor Zehra Kazim, Ustad Bashir Khan, Ustad Shafqat Salamat Ali Khan, Mumtaz Ali Sabzal, Shahid Hameed, Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan (Germany) and others. From India, Vidya Shah (a renowned vocalist) and Kamal Sabri (Sarangi Nawaz) have been invited to perform at the Festival. 

 

The event also includes "Story of Indus and its Music" choreographed by Sheema Kermani and her students. Another highlight of the festival will be “Sarangi Ensemble” featuring seven sarangi players from all over Pakistan and India. 

 

The event is being sponsored and supported by KMC, Soneri Bank, PSO, HBFC, Candyland, KZK Group, Karachi Marriott and others.
