JOHANNESBURG: South Africa's rand fell more than 1.5 percent against the dollar to a week's low on Tuesday, weighed by strikes which have hit growth prospects ahead of a mid-term budget statement on Thursday.
The rand was at 8.7565 to the dollar at 1050 GMT after hitting a session trough of 8.7779 earlier, compared with Monday's close at 8.6320.
