LAHORE: UAE Ambassador in Pakistan Issa Abdullah Albasha Al Noaimi met Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa on Tuesday and exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, Governor Khosa appreciated the UAE's role in development and humanitarian works in different parts of the province, particularly the relief goods distributed by Khalifa Foundation among the flood- victims this year, said a news release of the embassy on Tuesday.
Ambassador Al Noaimi also met Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and briefed him on the economic potential and opportunities in the region, specially in energy and agricultural fields.
Shahbaz Sharif thanked the UAE thanked leadership for their interest in strengthening economic ties with Pakistan.
The Ambassador said that both the countries had the geographical proximity, common religion, historical roots of their relations and the mutual interest.
He extended invitations to the Governor and the Chief Minister to attend the celebrations of the 41st anniversary of the UAE National Day to be held at the embassy in Islamabad.
The UAE envoy also met Farouk Iftikhar, the newly-elected President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed with him ongoing efforts to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the business communities of the two countries.
The LCCI President welcomed the Ambassador and applauded the existing relations between the two countries and called for promoting investment relations and exchange of visits between businessmen.
He appreciated the economic and humanitarian assistance provided by the United Arab Emirates during the last four decade for the benefit of the needy people.
Ambassador Noaimi congratulated the President and members of the Chamber on their election. He told them about the advantages and potential in the country's economy and investment opportunities.
He invited the Pakistani businessmen to take advantage of the existing trade agreements and take part in Dubai Expo 2020 and utilize it to the best of their benefit.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen economic relations in the light of the encouragement shown by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Asif Ali Zardari . Ambassador Al Noaimi said his country would continue to contribute to the infrastructure in Pakistan.
He referred to the ongoing projects in education, heath and construction in the North West region by the "UAE projects to assist Pakistan".
