Yang Jiechi 400BEIJING: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has said that Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic partners and in view of evolving international environment both sides needed to reinforce their ties.

 

Yang expressed these views when he warmly greeted foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani here on Wednesday. `

 

Jilani is currently on a visit to Beijing to lead Pakistan in the 5th round of Pakistan China Strategic Dialogues to be held tomorrow.

 

The meeting took place at the Chinese Foreign Ministry and lasted for more than an hour.

 

The Foreign Secretary conveyed the best and sincerest wishes of Pakistani leadership to the Chinese leadership, as well as their hope that the incoming Chinese leaders, would further solidify China's relations with Pakistan and also reinforce China's economic and geopolitical significance.

 

It was recalled by both leaders that the new Chinese leadership was well-known to the Pakistani leadership.

 

Both leaders had a wide-ranging discussion on a variety of important issues that included efforts to bring stability in Afghanistan, making South and the East Asia a peaceful and economically growing region free of disputes, deepening Sino-Pakistan ties, and the reforms at the United Nations Security Council.

 

Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to continue to cooperate with each other at various international and regional fora to advance interests of peace and security.

 

Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani informed Minister Yang of Pakistan's efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region.

 

Jilani reiterated Pakistan's commitment to facilitate political reconciliation in Afghanistan.

 

The Foreign Secretary said Pakistan was deeply appreciative of China's constant support for major infrastructure and development projects in Pakistan and hoped that bilateral economic and trade cooperation would continue to solidify.
