FAISALABAD: Leaders of 15 industry and trade associations on Saturday criticized the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) for alleged over-billing, wrong bills and overcharging and discriminatory cut-down of gas supply.
In a joint meeting held at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Saturday, the associatiion leaders stated that the two departments supplying gas and power to industry and trade were hampering the normal running of business, trade and industry in Faisalabad Region.
On the occasion, Mian Zahid Aslam President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) said that FESCO was indulging in frequent over-billing, overcharging not only to business, trade and industrial communities but also to domestic consumers.
He said that wrong billing was causing problems to the consumers and they were forced to spend lot of their time in getting their bills corrected from the FESCO offices.
Additionally, the industry particularly the small entrepreneurs, stitchers and retailers were also getting extraordinary high electricity bills which upset their business and they were suffering from heavy losses.
The representatives of trade, business and industrial sectors attending the meeting, said that gas supply to Lahore region was for five days whereas for Faisalabad the supply was only for three days.
This, they said, was perilous action taken by the gas authorities for the business, trade and industry of the region.
The meeting was attended by vice president FCCI Ch Muhammad Boota, Vice Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMEA) Syed Zia Alamdar, Chairman All Pakistan Cotton Power looms Rana Ikhlaq Ahmad, Regional Chairman All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) Engineer Rizwan Ashraf, Chairman Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) Asghar Ali, former chairman All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Naveed Gulzar, Chairman Foundry Association Seth Iftkhar Ahmad, Chairman Soap Association Muzammal Saleem, Chairman Embroidery Association Naddem Ishfaq Puri and Chairman All Pakistan Bed-sheet and Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA) Imran Mahmood.
