karachi-k-blast-KARACHI: At least two people were killed and four injured after a blast in a rickshaw in Orangi Town, Karachi, the media reported on Wednesday. A second and bigger explosion occured an hour later in the same area next to the gate of an imambargah.

The second blast injured a few media, rescue and security personnel.

Police and rangers pushed back the large crowd and media persons after the second blast erupted.

According to the Bomb Disposal Squad, the second blast contained no ball bearings.

DIG West Javed Odho said there was no congregation held at the imambargah when the first blast took place.

However, according to details, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle who reportedly crashed into a rickshaw and detonated the explosive material.

Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot to determine the nature of the blast.

The dead and injured have been shifted to local hospitals, while the area has been cordonned off by police and security personnel.

Details suggest that ball bearings were embedded into bodies of the injured following the blast, while several body parts were also scattered in the area, which have been brought to the hospital as well.

One of the injured is said to be in serious condition and has been taken to operation theatre.

It may be mentioned here that on November 18, two people were killed and more than a dozen injured in an imambargah explosion in Abbas Town in the city.

Apparently, the explosives were planted on a motorcycle.
