BEIJING: China said on Tuesday that improved relations between Pakistan and India would be conducive for the peace, stability and development in South Asia. "We welcome contacts and dialogues between the two countries", said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman of China Jiang Yu at the regular press briefing, here responding to a question on Pakistan's Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani's visit to India at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Dr. Mahmohan Singh to watch the semi-final of the Indian and Pakistani cricket teams in Mohali. The semi-final of the World Cup cricket will be played in the Indian city on Wednesday.
She held that China supports for dialogues and cooperation for properly settlement of disputes to pave way for common development of their peoples.
She pointed out that India and Pakistan are close neighbours to China and are major countries in South Asia.
