KARACHI: Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is looking to sail her career into the American music industry by releasing her album in December, and also confirmed her lead role in Sanjay Leela Bansali’s upcoming film.
Chopra’s single “In my city” featuring Will.I.Am gained positive feedback from the Indian and the international market. After the single released in September it saw No.1 on the international download charts with record sales crossing 100,000 singles (cumulative) within the first week of its release. Moreover, it debuted straight at the No.1 spot on the pan-India Planet M and Music World International Top 20 retail chain charts.
Chopra also signed up Bansali’s next venture based on the life of Indian women’s Olympic boxing gold medalist Mary Kom. Due to her capability of playing a wide variety of roles Bansali has set his confidence in Chopra’s acting skills to pull off this character. Chorpa is said to go through training and workshops before filming begins to properly enact the boxer’s life.
The actress claimed to be overwhelmed by the positive response of the single even before her promotions began and also stated that she has worked meticulously on her music as this is a different genre for her.
